research & advocacy
Amy’s European Master of Music research delved into the essential role of emotional safety in creative environments, highlighting the significance of managing risk in the cultivation of these spaces. Her research developed a comprehensive framework that empowers creative leaders to proactively address risk in creative settings—whether on stage, in classrooms, workshops, etc. This framework ensures that participants feel emotionally secure enough to take creative risks, fostering communal understanding and driving collective innovation.
They presented their research on cultivating safe emotional spaces at Oberlin Conservatory (USA), Darmstädter Ferienkurse (Germany), Prins Claus Conservatorium (Netherlands), and the International Clarinet Association Festival (Ireland). This action-based research led to Amy’s masters thesis, “Cultivating Emotional Safe Spaces for Creativity & Innovation” (2024).
Additionally, Amy has been a guest speaker in Groningen, Netherlands, sponsored by the Still I Rise Collective, for the Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women, where she discussed intersectional feminism in the arts.
