Clarinet/Bass Clarinet

Amy Zuidema is an experienced educator with a decade of diverse teaching experience. She ran a private studio in Michigan before moving to New York, where she spent three years teaching clarinet classes and private lessons to bachelor’s students as a graduate assistant and lecturer at Ithaca College. In the Netherlands, she further developed her skills by observing European teaching methods, teaching privately, and adapting her approach to overcome language barriers. Amy has worked with students of all ages and is committed to a neurodivergent-friendly teaching style.

Amy specializes in contemporary performance and bass clarinet, with a passion for expanding the possibilities of clarinet performance. She encourages her students to expand beyond traditional constructs of classical musicianship, allowing them to discover and express their unique artistic voices. Drawing from her experience in multiple musical genres, alongside her love for improvisation and composition, Amy provides students with both the technical foundation and the creative inspiration to explore music with openness, compassion, and innovation.
